Very nice records indeed! May I ask what is your unit size? It seems like you are betting around 200 on each pick, these are not 200 units right? More like the cash amount...

Hi again Markie.
Just out of curiosity, it appears that many of your picks are placed with Pinny.
Does your posted record include best prices available from a number of books, or are they recorded at prices available at Pinny ?
BTW good luck with today's picks :103631605

Any thoughts on Wigan/Chelsea? This started out -1 and -1.5 and has gone up to -1.5. Will Chelsea put in a good effort here or will Wigan outplay them in their first match of the Premiership?

Thanks in advance.

Solid my friend. 2-1-1... I'll take that every day.

I'll say this now... This West Ham team should be flying high on momentum after this week. Sunderland and West Ham are both, for all intents and purposes in the same boat coming up from Championship, both hosting teams that they CAN beat, but on paper with HFA would be evenly matched. Both fall down 1-0. Both fight back to draw level... But who walks away with points? West Ham, and in resounding fashion. Welcome back to the top flight indeed. Sunderland goes home empty after giving up the winning goal (and then a late one) with only 10 men on the field for Charlton.... can't do that in the top flight at home. West Ham will remember this come relegation battle time... big time 6 point swing already this early in the season on Sunderland, and certainly pennies in the piggy bank for a harder stretch of the season to come. Obviously it's just one game, but we all know how momentum works, particularly in the EPL.

Baggies also get a nice point in Man City, something that perhaps shows that WBA is ready to stay up again with some nice offseason transactions.

Also worth note in Championship IMO, is how lousy a start Norwich, CP, and Southampton are off to... I mean, after today's craptastic 1-1 draw between Norwich and CP, the teams have a combined 8 points in 9 games and only 1 victory, that being by Southampton. I don't know if anyone really expected these teams to come right back up, but certainly a better start would have to have been expected, ESPECIALLY from Norwich, starting with 3 at home and only managing 3 draws. Funny to see CP at the foot of the table, even if it is only 3 matches in. I know relegated sides typically don't fare well at the beginning of the season, but you'd like to figure at some point these teams will turn it around and be contenders for promotion, right??? Then again, where were Leicester City, Leeds, and Wolverhampton in that promotion fight last year... nowhere to be seen.

And one other thing Mark that I just want to ask of you since you follow this closer than I... Doesn't it seem that this Celtic team just coasts through life at times? I mean they fall down 1-0 to the promoted side in the 1st half, and then all of a sudden turn it on in the 2nd half and outscore Falkirk 3-0... Same thing happened in CL action, when they dropped 5-0 at home, only to come back and win 4-0, one short of forcing ET. What gives with this team?

Regardless, a nice day Mark. Let's keep it going through the weekend.

SATURDAY'S RESULTS: 2-1-1 (+2.00 UNITS)
2005 TOTAL: 302-253-11 (54.4%) +52.54 UNITS
2004 TOTAL: 204-148-4 (58.0%) +59.92 UNITS
OVERALL TOTAL TO DATE: 506-402-15 (55.7%) +112.46 UNITS

Some good points there, Guru. I think Celtic is in trouble this season. With the improvement of teams like Hearts and Aberdeen, Celtic could go this whole season without any silverware.

dozer, I play the best available line from the four books that I have accounts with: Pinnacle, Olympic, Bet365 and William Hill.

I was out of town all weekend and will be leaving town again today for a couple of days, so no posts until Wednesday.

Nice work on Saturday Markie, just out of curiosity, do you have any difficulties with Bet365 regarding 'low limits' ?
I'm aware that they are a quality book but occasionally I hear punters complaining that once you start winning regularly with them, then they can soon reduce your betting limits, any thoughts ?
BTW, look forward to Wednesday's picks.
Thanks a lot Markie. :103631605

Welcome back and best of luck. Always nice to bet against Lichtenstein on the road... no reason that even Slovakia should score 4 times against them. (Don't tell Portugal that though....)

Mark, your thoughts on Premiership this weekend?

Blackburn seems to be a generous pick at +104 on the ml against Fulham.

I'd also be interested on your thoughts between Liverpool and Sunderland... Seems as though the fans at Anfield will want to see an offensive showcase in this one, and against a team that let in 3 against Charlton, two of which came with 10 men on the field, Liverpool to cover the 1.5 at -109 and/or over 2.5, even at -120 seems good to me.

Charlton at -115 seems just too easy against Wigan... really does seem easy... Perhaps +240 on the draw for the match? Wigan had the draw until the very end against Chelsea... why not at Charlton?

Also like WBA in this spot against Portsmouth... if this WBA team is going to survive again this year and try to cement their spot in the top flight, this would be the type of game they have to win. -0.25 seems alright, figuring even a draw losses only half the bet.

As for Sunday... Bolton is really a team I know little about. Seems to me their efforts at Reebok Stadium are usually strong, and against an overrated Everton side, perhaps this +113 is a bit much. I think I'd feel better laying -0.25 at perhaps -115 than the ml value.

Then THE match of the week.... I know that the Blues really struggled @ Wigan, but there was every reason for Wigan to hold on tight to that 1 goal margin. But with Crespo and gang having the EPL home debut against rival Arsenal, who IMO is a shell of their old selves, this price seems quite good for Chelsea at home to walk away with all 3 points.

Just my general thoughts. Looking forward to your's this weekend.

AFLGuru:

I like to hedge the Charlton pick with a pick on the draw. 0.65 units on Charlton -120 and 0.35 units on the draw +240.

Charlton win = 0.55 - 0.35 = +0.20
draw = 0.84 - 0.65 = +0.19
Wigan win = -1.00

It's the equivalent of Charlton not to lose = -500
